Our Life is Like a Patchwork Quilt

As I was driving the beautiful country roads near Lake Michigan, I was looking out at the rolling land. There was one beautiful farm after another. Horses were running in the fields, tractors were plowing the fields, and some of the acres of land were lined with lazy cows grazing. As I continued to appreciate the beauty before me, a golden nugget landed in my mind. Some of the fields were green and growing. Some of the fields were black top soil and some were being turned over after their growth was just cut down. Put all together, they looked like a patchwork quilt. I began to see how our life is like a patchwork quilt.

Everything in our life, all the seasons, all the experiences, all the people, are different

patches in our quilt. We all have beauty, growth, green, brown, turned over, cut down, seeds planted, rain, sunshine, wind, and care, - in our patchwork quilt called life.

Looking out at those rolling hills of many colors I thought of the different times in my life, - the different seasons. When all the different patch works of my life comes together, it actually makes a beautiful quilt of many colors and many textures, an heirloom, if you will.

See the beauty in your patchwork quilt life today. Think back on what it took to make each patch, the strength, the talent, the tears and the love. A beautiful quilt does not just happen. It takes planning and purpose. Time and love. Let someone enjoy the warmth of your patchwork quilt called life, shake it off, dust it off and share it!

Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love. ~Author Unknown
